Prize Draw Process

From December 1st, 2020 until our GRAND PRIZE drawing on 14th February, 2021, you’ll receive one entry to win for every $5 donated to Project Komba’s GoFundMe page. But you’ll have even more chances to win! We have some incredible prizes to say thank you for supporting Project Komba and the people of Madagascar! We’ll be holding a drawing for one winner every week starting January 1st! The earlier you donate, the more prize draws you’ll be entered into!

If you win one of the thank you gifts leading up to the grand prize drawing, you are still in the running for the grand prize, though you will no longer be eligible to win other thank you gifts. (For example, if you win the Lemur Sponsorship drawing on the 1st of January, you will not be eligible to win the Lemur print drawing the following Friday, however you will still be eligible to win the GRAND PRIZE on February 14th.) When drawing for thank you gifts, if the number generator selects someone who has already won one of our previous thank you gifts, we will reset the number generator to select a winner.

We’ll be using Google’s random number generator here to select the winners for each drawing.

For all prizes, including the GRAND PRIZE, if we are unable to get into contact with the winner within 1 (one) week, we will draw for a new winner. When you donate to Project Komba, your name and donation are entered into a spreadsheet, and we assign you a separate number for each $5 increment of your donation. (For example, if you were the first person to donate and you donated $15, you would be assigned the numbers 1, 2, and 3. If you see those numbers pop up on the random number generator during the drawing, you have won!) You will receive an email from the Project Komba team (to the email address assoicated with your GoFundMe donation) with all of your assigned numbers prior to the GRAND PRIZE drawing so you can follow along during the drawing and know immediately if you’ve won!

You will be able to watch the drawing LIVE via an Instagram Livestream. Be sure to follow @ProjectKomba on Instagram and Facebook so you don’t miss out!

  • DRAWING DATE: 8th of January, 2021, FRIDAY
  • DONATED BY:  Award-winning illustrator, Rachel Hudson

“I am a freelance illustrator based in rural Hampshire, UK. … Wildlife is my favourite subject to illustrate and I am thrilled to be working with many of the leading nature conservation organisations and publishers.”

“Bold, colourful, intriguing and timeless – Rachel’s images encompass a universal appeal of animals, from a sideways glance of one of our most well known garden birds, to the distinctive gait and mannerisms of less visible wildlife. Her style may be pared down. And the impression projected one of effortlessness. But that sums up the skills behind the success of this personable illustrator who, in combining personal passion with a creative calling, fulfills every artist’s ambition.”

“Stitch Sainte Luce is a Women’s Embroidery Cooperative based in southeast Madagascar. Our 96 members create beautiful handmade embroidery with stunning patterns, often featuring local wildlife. Every product is unique!

The Cooperative is integral to the three villages that make up Sainte Luce. Many of the women are married to fishermen and their ability to earn money that does not rely on the increasingly dangerous ocean means that their husbands do not have to take as many risks. The women have used their increased incomes to achieve many things that we take for granted: they’re buying better food for their families, going to the doctor more often, and sending their children to school.
